For the Public

The BC Pharmacy Association wants to help British Columbians make the most of the outstanding patient care offered by pharmacists.

Pharmacists can do much more than just fill your prescription. Working with other health care providers, pharmacists can help alleviate illness and respond to any adverse reactions to medications.

Did you know that your pharmacist can provide services such as:

  • monitoring your health;
  • managing your medications and medical conditions;
  • health care services at home;
  • long-term care; and
  • giving patients seasonal flu and other immunizations.

Over the last number of years the profession of pharmacy has evolved from technical, product-oriented functions to patient-oriented, health-outcome counseling, information and professional services.

The principal task of the modern pharmacist is to identify, resolve and prevent drug-related problems. Pharmacists are the acknowledged medication experts.

The importance of your pharmacist helping you manage drug related problems has increased significantly with the introduction of many new and complex drug therapies.

So find your local pharmacy (you can use our tool located on the top right corner of the screen) and talk to your pharmacist to find out how they can help you get the best possible outcomes from your medications and improve your health and wellbeing.
