Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common and contagious virus that affects the lungs and respiratory airways. It is usually mild but can cause serious infection in some people, such as adults aged 60 or older.
Join Dr. Fairuz Siraj on January 17 as he discusses RSV, and will focus on the need for RSV prevention in older adults, discuss the clinical presentation, diagnosis, testing and current standard of care for infection, summarize clinical evidence supporting RSV vaccination and current vaccine technologies to address age-related decline in immunity and recommend and/or implement RSV vaccination for appropriate adult patients at risk of severe outcome for RSV.
Learning Objectives
After attending the session, pharmacists will be better able to:
- Describe the need for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) prevention in older adults.

- Summarize new clinical evidence supporting RSV vaccination and current vaccine technologies to address age-related decline in immunity (ARDI).

About the Speaker: Dr. Fairuz Siraj, PharmD, CDE
Dr. Fairuz Siraj is a 2019 doctor of pharmacy graduate from the University of British Columbia. Now a certified diabetes educator and staff pharmacist at Pharmasave in Victoria BC, Fairuz empowers patients through personalized diabetes and migraine consultation services.
