About the Speaker: Dr. Alan Low, BSc.(Pharm.), Pharm D., RPh, ACPR, FCSHP, CCD
Dr. Alan Low has completed an accredited Canadian Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program at St Paul’s Hospital and Post-Graduate Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at UBC. He holds current positions as the Pharmacy Lead and Primary Care Pharmacist at BioPro Biologics Pharmacy, Executive Director, Consultant Specialists of BC, Care Director, MedInfuse Health Infusion Clinic, Clinical Pharmacist (casual), Fraser Health Authority, and is Clinical Professor in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UBC. In addition to leadership work in community health, advocacy and academia, he continues to provide direct patient care in community and hospital practice. He contributes as a member of the Osteoporosis Canada Scientific Advisory Council, Board Advisor with the GI Society and a member of the Medical Board of HealthChoicesFirst, a patient video education resource.
Alan is an invited speaker at local, regional and international conferences, sharing his knowledge and insights. Alan has experience in a wide variety of health and administrative settings including direct patient care and administration in the hospital and outpatient clinics, clinical and practice-based research, medical affairs and government relation roles in the pharmaceutical industry, consultant work in healthcare and clinical projects as well as leadership in health advocacy. Alan is a co-founder and co-editor of the textbook titled “Pharmacy Management in Canada,” which is required reading in several of the Pharmacy schools in Canada. His practice is focused on patients with chronic conditions and exercises his clinical expertise in the therapeutic management with specialty pharmaceuticals and providing optimal pharmaceutical care.
