In 2005, John Capelli joined the British Columbia Public Service at the Ministry of Health. Over the years John has been involved in numerous complex policy initiatives within the BC PharmaCare program, including the development of the Pharmaceutical Services Act, the Act that governs the PharmaCare program, as well as leading the development and implementation of its supporting regulations. More recently, John has been involved in the policy work that has led to the implementation of National Pharmacare in British Columbia. Prior to joining the public service, John worked in the not-for-profit sector, specializing in public policy research and analysis.

John attended the University of Calgary where he received both his Bachelor and Master of Arts in Political Science. He has a deep commitment to serving the public and has a particular interest in employee engagement. John was raised in Milan, Italy, moving to Canada at the age of 14, and has lived in Victoria since 2005.
