Hepatitis A Alert for Residents of British Columbia

Updated on January 12, 2018 (Originally posted on September 2, 2017) In The News, Industry Notice

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) is advising consumers that Hepatitis A was found in certain freshly prepared foods. The press release is available on the BCCDC website.

As product(s) were distributed province-wide, patients may visit your pharmacy for discussion and eligibility for a free vaccine dose. If the client is indicated for outbreak management, please offer them a dose using any of your available Hepatitis A vaccine. If private supplies are used, please contact your local public health unit for replenishment of the administered dose(s). For outbreak management, please use the appropriate Health Authority immunization reporting form to record doses. This reporting applies to doses given to all ages related to this outbreak only. Please send the form to the Health Authority as per your usual reporting process and when requesting replenishments.
