About the Speaker: Dr. Nardine Nakhla, PharmD
Dr. Nakhla is an esteemed academic and pharmacist with a specialization in minor ailments, non-prescription therapeutics, and patient self-care. Over her fifteen-year career, she has demonstrated unwavering dedication to teaching, research, service, advocacy, and innovation in these vital areas. Her expertise has earned acclaim at provincial, national, and international levels, evidenced by her contributions to esteemed pharmacy education textbooks and presentations.
She is the recipient of several prestigious awards, including the Pfizer Bowl of Hygeia and multiple teaching excellence accolades, which underscore her commitment to advancing pharmacy practice. Dr. Nakhla's impact extends beyond academia; she has been a driving force behind innovations in pharmacist and student pharmacist education, pharmacy-based public health initiatives, and advocacy for regulatory reforms. For instance, as a key member of the Ontario College of Pharmacists’ Minor Ailments Advisory Group (MAAG), she played a pivotal role in shaping draft regulations enabling pharmacists to prescribe in Ontario.
