The BC Pharmacy Association will have two new board members joining the BCPhA Board of Directors starting on Jan. 1, 2026.

This year, the BCPhA Board Election took place on Nov. 3, 202 and members elected Steven Hopp from Oliver and Andrew Low from Maple Ridge.

Steven Hopp

Elected 2026-2028
Owner/Pharmacy Manager
Rutland Medical Pharmacy (Oliver)

Thank you for your support in the BCPhA election. I’m honoured to represent our profession and will do my best to bring positive, lasting change.

With 23 years in community pharmacy — from serving LTC homes to owning independent pharmacies in Kelowna, Duncan, and Surrey — I’ve seen firsthand that people are the heart of our profession. If we take care of our teams and our patients, success follows.

My experience includes eight years on the SDM Peers Committee, six years on the CPBC Board (including as Chair and Vice-Chair), and leadership on governance, finance, and registrar evaluation committees. These roles strengthened my ability to advocate effectively and build constructive relationships with government.

As a BCPhA board member, I’ll focus on fair pharmacist compensation, expanded scope, and strategic advocacy that aligns with public needs. Together, we can ensure pharmacy remains a trusted, people-centered cornerstone of health care in every B.C. community.

Andrew Low

Elected 2026-2028
District Director
Neighbourly Pharmacy (Maple Ridge)

I am deeply honoured to have the privilege of representing our members in this upcoming term, and I want to thank everyone who participated in the recent election. Our profession stands at an important moment. As changes continue to shape our health-care landscape, pharmacists will be asked to take on greater clinical responsibility. I am confident we have the knowledge, skill, and dedication to meet the needs of our patients and our communities.

I am proud of the work our members do every day, and I will do everything I can to represent the collective interests of pharmacists across the province. I will continue to advocate for expanding our prescribing authority beyond minor ailments, supported by fair remuneration for both current and future services, including lab test ordering and point of care testing.

Together, we will continue to strengthen our profession and demonstrate the critical role pharmacists play in improving patient care.
